How to Make a Self Watering Pot Plant

Method:
1. Cut your milk bottle in half.
2. Cut your string into five pieces, a bit longer then the half of your milk bottle.
3. Make a hole in the middle of the milk bottle lid.
4. Tie all the pieces of string together with about 5 cm left over at the bottom.
5. Pull the long parts of the string through the middle of the milk bottle lid. Make sure these bits go through the lid on the side that would allow them to sit inside the bottle.

6. Screw the lid back onto the bottle top.
7. Fill the bottom of the milk bottle with water (about 3/4 full).
8. Put the lid end of the top half of the milk bottle in the bottom half. Make sure you hold onto the string so it does not fall out.

9. Pull the string to the top of the bottle and pack tightly with soil. Make sure the pieces of string are randomly throughout the soil.
*The water will come up through the knot and spread up the string, therefore watering your plant from the bottom.

10. Make a well big enough for your plant and plant it.
11. Lightly pat soil around the roots of the plant to make sure it does not move anywhere.
12. You now have your very own plant that waters itself. Make sure you watch the level of water in the bottom and if it gets too low, just take the top off and fill it with water.
